I'm a feminist because I believe in equality. I believe that my self-worth is not defined by what a boyfriend thinks of me. I believe that women can be homemakers or CEOs or doctors or nurses or artists or stay at home mom's or scientists if they want to be. I don't believe in gender roles. I don't believe that girls are better at English essays and boys are better at math. I don't think a women's place is the home, unless she wants it to be. I believe women and their bodies should not be seen as objects, but as Anita often puts it "whole and complete human beings". I'm a feminist because I believe rape is wrong whether or not the woman was drunk or if she was wearing a short skirt. I don't believe a man is the head of the home. I don't think someone needs to be a size 4 to be beautiful and nor do I believe "real women have curves". Those are lies. I believe girls should be taught how to be self-reliant and confident without depending on a knight in shining armor to save them and take care of them. I don't think girls should only be taught to only play with Barbies. I believe there is nothing wrong with boys playing Barbies. I don't believe women are better than men. I don't believe men are better than women. My name is Kara and I'm a feminist.
